Our leylandii screen is far too high — can it come down?
The height can come down and be kept there with a regular cut. The catch is that leylandii will not reshoot from bare brown wood, so cutting below the green leaves a face that stays brown for good. We reduce to green growth, and on a badly overgrown screen we often stage it across two seasons so it thickens back up.
It is between us and next door — is that a problem?
