Northwich gardens carry a lot of mature trees — the older streets around Castle and Witton, the Victorian villas off London Road, and the leafy plots out toward Hartford and Davenham all came with sycamore, ash and big conifers that are now well past their tidy years. A lot of properties also back onto the Weaver, the flashes or old woodland, so overhanging limbs from boundary and neighbour trees are a regular headache here. The flat, low-lying ground holds water and the wind funnels along the river valley, so we see split limbs, leaning ash and heavy crowns that need reducing before they come down on a fence, shed or conservatory.
